Nyanzaga project opens procurement opportunities for local firms

By The Respondents Reporter

Sotta Mining Corporation Limited has opened a new round of procurement opportunities for Tanzanian businesses as development of the Nyanzaga Gold Project gathers pace, with the company seeking contractors and suppliers in security services and mining equipment supply.

The company, a joint venture between Perseus Mining Limited and the Government of Tanzania, has issued expressions of interest (EOIs) aimed at attracting qualified firms while advancing local participation in one of the country's most anticipated mining investments.

The latest tenders cover security control room operations as well as the supply of specialised equipment and spare parts required for future processing plant maintenance.

Under one of the tenders, Sotta Mining is seeking a contractor to establish and operate a fully integrated security control room that will oversee round-the-clock monitoring of the project site.

The scope includes management of advanced surveillance technologies such as CCTV systems, video analytics, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, autonomous drone surveillance and vehicle tracking technologies.

The contractor will also be responsible for providing specialised security management for the project's gold room, a critical facility within the mining operation.

To qualify, bidders must demonstrate at least five years of experience in electronic security monitoring within industrial or high-risk environments and provide evidence of compliance with Tanzania's local content requirements.

The company is also seeking detailed information on the qualifications and experience of key personnel proposed for the assignment.

In separate procurement notices, Sotta Mining has invited suppliers to express interest in providing Process Analytical and Waterforce-branded equipment and spare parts for preventive maintenance activities at the future processing plant.

The company said suppliers must be capable of delivering genuine equipment and replacement parts while ensuring reliable in-country availability and efficient supply chain management.

Deliveries will be made to Dar es Salaam, with suppliers assuming responsibility for the entire procurement and logistics process.

In line with Tanzania's local content policy, preference will be given to companies that are wholly owned by Tanzanian citizens.

Interested firms are required to demonstrate previous experience in supplying similar products and services to mining operations and provide evidence of successful project delivery.

For the Waterforce equipment tender, applicants must also submit health, safety and environmental performance records for the past three years, including key safety indicators.

The procurement exercise underscores the growing opportunities being created by the Nyanzaga Gold Project for local businesses, contractors and service providers as the project moves closer to production.

Sotta Mining has further emphasized the importance of compliance with Tanzania's Mining Act and Local Content Regulations, requiring bidders to demonstrate financial capability through audited accounts and show how local communities will benefit through employment and participation in project activities.

The Nyanzaga Gold Project is expected to become one of Tanzania's major gold-producing operations, generating jobs, business opportunities and investment while strengthening the contribution of the mining sector to the national economy.
