Dr. Mwinyi made the call on June 5, 2026, at the State House in Zanzibar, when he held talks with ambassadors from Arab nations accredited to Tanzania who visited him to congratulate him on Zanzibar’s development progress under his leadership.

He said Zanzibar has continued to strengthen its investment climate and is opening wider opportunities across key sectors, including tourism, the blue economy, oil and gas exploration, fisheries, conference tourism, and the development of the Mangapwani Integrated Port project, which is expected to boost trade and logistics in the region.

He also expressed appreciation to Arab countries for their continued support to Zanzibar through investments and development assistance in sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure, noting that such cooperation has contributed significantly to the island’s development agenda.

Dr. Mwinyi further called for stronger collaboration in emerging sectors, particularly digital technology and vocational training, saying these areas are essential in equipping young people with modern skills needed in a fast-changing global economy.

He emphasized that investing in youth skills development will help Zanzibar maximize its demographic potential and strengthen its competitiveness in the region.

The ambassadors who attended the meeting included  Ahmada El Badaoui of Comoros, Sharif Abdelhamid Ismail of Egypt, Yahya Ahmed Okesh of Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Abdala Abdelhameed of Sudan,  Ghalib Zemane of Algeria, and Salam Abuu Sharara of Palestine.

Others were Akran Fayz Alhada, Chargé d’Affaires of Syria; Ahmad Sale Al Umar, Acting Ambassador of Yemen; Abdulla Saeed Al Naimi, Acting Ambassador of Qatar; Abdillatif Abdullah Hilowle, Acting Ambassador of Somalia; and Ezzeddin Bahri, Acting Ambassador of Libya.
