Defending champions Young Africans SC (Yanga) have advanced to the semi-finals of the CRDB Federation Cup after securing a 2–0 victory over JKT Tanzania in a quarter-final match played at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium.
The result sees Yanga join Coastal Union in the last four, setting up a competitive semi-final stage as teams continue their pursuit of the prestigious knockout title.
Yanga made an early statement in the match, dominating possession and applying consistent pressure on JKT Tanzania.
Their breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when defender Hassan Wahabi of JKT Tanzania turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous attack, handing Yanga the lead.
The champions doubled their advantage just six minutes later. In the 39th minute, midfielder Mudathir Yahya finished confidently after being set up by a precise pass from Pacome Zouzoua, giving Yanga a comfortable 2–0 lead heading into the break.
In the second half, JKT Tanzania returned with greater attacking intent and pushed forward in search of a response.
However, Yanga remained disciplined at the back, maintaining shape and limiting clear scoring opportunities.
Both sides created chances during an evenly contested second half, but neither was able to find the back of the net as Yanga managed the game effectively to preserve their lead.
At full time, Yanga sealed a deserved victory, reinforcing their strong form and ambition to defend their CRDB Federation Cup crown this season.
The team’s performance reflected composure, experience, and tactical discipline in a high-pressure knockout fixture.
With a place in the semi-finals confirmed, Yanga now turn their focus to the next stage of the competition, where they will aim to continue their title defence campaign and move one step closer to lifting the trophy once again.
