The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) Kinondoni South Zone held a consultative meeting on May 20, 2026, with its large power consumers in a continued effort to improve electricity services, strengthen communication, and address operational challenges affecting key users in the area.

The meeting brought together major electricity users, including industries, hotels, government institutions, and private organizations.

The discussions focused on service reliability, customer feedback, and practical solutions aimed at improving efficiency in power supply and strengthening collaboration between TANESCO and its clients.

Speaking during the meeting, Kinondoni South Regional Manager, Engineer Adam Abdulla, said TANESCO has intensified direct engagement with high-consumption customers as part of ongoing reforms to enhance service delivery and ensure stable electricity supply across the country.

He said large customers play a crucial role in driving the national economy through industrial production, service delivery, and job creation, hence the need for consistent communication to quickly address any challenges affecting their operations.

Engineer Abdulla added that the engagement also provided an opportunity for TANESCO to update customers on ongoing improvements in the electricity sector, including efforts to strengthen power stability, reduce outages, and expand infrastructure in rapidly growing urban and industrial areas.

He noted that regular dialogue helps both sides to better understand challenges such as power interruptions, billing concerns, and technical faults, allowing for faster and more coordinated solutions.

He further urged customers to ensure timely payment of electricity bills, saying it is essential for sustaining continuous investment in generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure to support reliable service delivery.

On their part, customers welcomed the initiative, saying it has improved communication and strengthened trust between TANESCO and major electricity users.

They noted that recent improvements in power supply have contributed to higher productivity and smoother business operations.

A representative from GIMCO AFRICA, Sekela Thomas, praised TANESCO for improving electricity reliability, saying the development has significantly boosted efficiency in production activities.

He added that stable power supply has reduced operational interruptions, enabling businesses to meet production targets more effectively.

Customers also encouraged TANESCO to continue holding regular engagement forums, noting that such platforms are important for sharing feedback and jointly addressing challenges affecting service delivery.

The meeting forms part of TANESCO’s ongoing nationwide initiative to engage different categories of customers in order to strengthen relationships, improve service delivery, and communicate ongoing sector reforms.

Through such engagements, Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited aims to ensure customer concerns are addressed in a timely manner while continuing to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity services in support of national development and economic growth.
