The Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Students’ Organisation (TAHLISO) has declared support for the “Never Again” message recently voiced by youths in Dodoma before President Samia Suluhu Hassan, insisting that incidents threatening peace and national unity must never be allowed to recur.

TAHLISO President, Geofrey Kiliba, made the remarks on Saturday, May 16, 2026, during a students’ conference held at Ubungo Plaza in Dar es Salaam under the theme, “Never Again: Let Us Love, Protect and Defend Our Country.”

The conference, organised by TAHLISO Dar es Salaam chapter, brought together university students to discuss patriotism, peace, unity, and the role of young people in safeguarding national stability.

Kiliba said students from higher learning institutions in Dar es Salaam fully support the statement made earlier by youths in Dodoma, who pledged before President Samia that they would not cooperate with anyone seeking to undermine the country’s peace, unity, and social harmony.

He said the conference was organised to reinforce the responsibility of young people in protecting the nation and promoting peaceful coexistence among Tanzanians regardless of political, social, or religious differences.

According to Kiliba, Tanzania’s peace and unity remain valuable national assets that must be protected by every generation, especially the youth who form a large segment of the country’s population.

While elaborating on the objectives of the conference, he referred to the message delivered by youths in Dodoma, who emphasized that the events of October 29 should never happen again.

He noted that the “Never Again” slogan reflects the collective desire of young Tanzanians to preserve national peace, strengthen solidarity, and reject any actions that could divide citizens or destabilize the country.

Kiliba further called on students and youths across the country to remain patriotic, responsible, and committed to protecting Tanzania’s unity and democratic values.

He stressed that higher learning students have a crucial role to play in promoting dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful engagement within society, adding that the future of the nation depends heavily on how young people choose to use their voices and influence.

The conference also served as a platform for discussions on civic responsibility, nation-building, and the importance of maintaining Tanzania’s long-standing reputation for peace and stability in the region.
