Ndele Mwaselela has said President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership agenda is centred on bringing leaders closer to wananchi and strengthening direct engagement with communities across the country.
The CCM National Executive Committee (NEC) member for Mbeya Region made the remarks on May 15, 2026, during a ceremony organised to honour primary and secondary school teachers from Iyela Ward for their strong performance in national examinations over the past three years.
The event recognised teachers whose schools recorded impressive results in Form Four, Form Two, Form Five and Standard Seven examinations, reflecting growing academic performance in the ward.
Mwaselela said leadership should go beyond routine project inspections, insisting that leaders must participate in community activities and appreciate the efforts of public servants delivering results on the ground.
“Good relations are built through participating in people’s activities. You cannot continue inspecting schools without recognising the achievements produced by teachers. Citizens came to congratulate CCM for the good results, but the real credit belongs to our teachers who worked tirelessly to achieve these successes,” he said.
He noted that President Samia values workers across all sectors, but has placed special emphasis on improving education standards and supporting teachers through increased investment in school infrastructure and learning facilities.
Mwaselela cited the President’s allocation of TZS 250 million for the construction of a modern hall at Samora Secondary School, saying the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the learning environment for students and teachers.
“You cannot easily find such a modern facility everywhere. The investments being made by President Samia in Mbeya’s education sector clearly show that the government is standing together with wananchi. Our responsibility now is to explain these achievements to the public,” he added.
He also called on special seats councillors in Mbeya Region to visit wards regularly to educate citizens on government development projects and initiatives aimed at empowering women and improving the welfare of schoolgirls.
Speaking at the event, Andason Mwalongo said Iyela Ward has continued to emerge as one of the best-performing areas in the education sector due to effective supervision by teachers and education officials.
He revealed that more than TZS 1.5 billion has been allocated for school infrastructure improvement projects in the ward, including classrooms and learning facilities.
“These funds must be managed effectively to ensure they bring meaningful improvements to the learning environment for our children,” said Mwalongo.
