President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, arrived in Dodoma on May 5, 2026, continuing his two-day State Visit to the United Republic of Tanzania, aimed at strengthening long-standing diplomatic, economic, and regional cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
Upon arrival at Dodoma Airport, President Ruto was warmly received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, alongside senior government officials, including the Regional Commissioner for Dodoma, Rosemary Senyamule, and other state leaders who gathered to welcome the visiting Head of State.
During his stay in Dodoma, President Ruto is expected to deliver a historic address to the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania.
This will mark a significant milestone in bilateral relations, as it will be the first time a Kenyan President addresses the Tanzanian Parliament. It also becomes his second official visit to Dodoma, following his earlier visit in 2022.
The parliamentary address is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and Kenya, particularly in trade, infrastructure development, regional integration, and shared efforts to boost economic growth within the East African Community.
After his engagement in Parliament, President Ruto will proceed to Chamwino State House, where he will be officially received by his host, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
At Chamwino, the two leaders are expected to hold brief bilateral discussions, reflect on the progress of Tanzania–Kenya relations, and reaffirm their commitment to advancing regional stability and prosperity.
The visit will conclude with a farewell ceremony before President Ruto departs Dodoma for Kenya, marking the end of his official State Visit.
