Minister for Works Abdallah Ulega has called on Tanzanians to continue safeguarding peace and national unity, describing stability as the main pillar for the country’s social and economic development.

Speaking during the national Eid al-Adha Council held in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam, Ulega said Tanzania’s progress depends on maintaining harmony, solidarity, and mutual respect among citizens regardless of their religious, political, or social differences.

He said peace has continued to create an enabling environment for development projects, investment, and improved livelihoods for citizens across the country.

“We must continue protecting our peace with all our strength because it is the greatest heritage that enables the development of our country and better lives for its citizens,” said Ulega.

The minister urged Tanzanians to uphold love, tolerance, and unity during the Eid al-Adha celebrations, noting that national cohesion remains essential for achieving the country’s long-term development goals.

Meanwhile, Acting Mufti of Tanzania Sheikh Ally Ngeruko called for greater efforts to nurture young people with strong moral and religious values in order to build a peaceful and responsible society.

Sheikh Ngeruko said the youth represent the future of the nation and therefore require proper guidance through education, patriotism, and ethical teachings so they can contribute positively to national development.

He stressed the need for religious leaders, parents, and communities to work together in shaping disciplined and responsible young citizens.

According to Sheikh Ngeruko, strengthening moral values among young people will help reduce social challenges, including behaviors that threaten peace and national unity.

He added that collective efforts are necessary to ensure future generations grow up with strong principles of solidarity, responsibility, and respect for others as the country continues pursuing sustainable development.
