The government has stepped up efforts to improve administrative efficiency and bring services closer to citizens following the official handover of a new District Commissioner’s office in Kiteto District, Manyara Region.
The modern facility, valued at TZS 1.7 billion, was formally handed over by Manyara Regional Commissioner, Queen Sendiga, to Kiteto District Commissioner, Remidius Mwema, after a comprehensive inspection confirmed the project met the required standards.
Located in Msakasaka Street, Bwagamoyo Ward, within Kibaya Division, the office block was constructed using the force account method, with works commencing on March 30, 2023.
The building features 35 rooms and a conference hall, offering a more conducive environment for public administration and engagement.
The investment reflects the government’s broader commitment to strengthening local governance systems and improving service delivery at the grassroots level, particularly in rapidly growing districts such as Kiteto.
Speaking during the handover, Sendiga commended engineers and technicians for delivering a high-quality structure but stressed that the real value of the project will be measured by the quality of services offered to the public.
She underscored the need for public servants to match the modern infrastructure with professionalism, accountability and efficiency, noting that wananchi expect timely and responsive services.
Mwema, on his part, described the facility as a transformative addition to the district’s administrative capacity, pledging that the office will operate as an inclusive and accessible centre for all residents.
He said the improved infrastructure will enhance coordination of government activities while also ensuring that citizens including those with special needs receive services in a more organised and dignified environment.
Local leaders echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the project’s impact on service accessibility. Msakasaka sub-village chairperson, Mwangao Sadick Mpalila, said the presence of the district administrative office in the area will significantly reduce travel time for residents seeking government services.
He noted that the facility is expected to boost efficiency, improve response times and strengthen the relationship between citizens and government authorities.
The completion of the office marks another milestone in the government’s ongoing investment in public infrastructure aimed at improving governance, transparency and service delivery across the country.
