The Minerals Commission has registered a major milestone in strengthening public financial management after receiving a clean audit opinion for the Financial Year 2024/2025 and successfully collecting TSh 1.192 trillion in government revenue, representing 99 percent of its annual target.
The achievements reflect improved efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the management of mineral sector revenues, which continue to play a key role in supporting national development priorities.
Speaking on May 19, 2026, in Arusha during a working session for accountants and economists of the Commission, the Director of Finance and Planning, CPA Idfonce Masoud, said the clean audit opinion was the result of strengthened internal controls and improved financial discipline across the institution.
He noted that the audit report, which was completed and submitted to the President and the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) in March 2026, confirmed compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), contributing to a significant reduction in audit queries and improved financial credibility.
CPA Masoud also praised the strong performance of Resident Mining Offices across the country, saying their efforts were central to the strong revenue collection results achieved during the year.
He further acknowledged the leadership of the Commission’s Executive Secretary for ensuring effective coordination and supervision of revenue mobilization activities.
“I sincerely appreciate your dedication and commitment, which has enabled us to achieve this level of revenue collection as of May 15, 2026,” he said.
He urged accountants and economists attending the session to fully utilize the training sessions and technical discussions to further improve performance, strengthen accountability systems, and enhance service delivery within the institution.
Arusha Regional Mining Resident Officer, Godson Kamihanda, said the working session provides an important platform for experience sharing, addressing operational challenges, and developing practical solutions to improve efficiency in revenue management and service delivery.
He said the outcomes of the discussions are expected to strengthen both institutional performance and the contribution of the mining sector to the national economy.
The working session includes training on the Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS), management of revenue arrears, financial reporting and budgeting processes, expenditure control, as well as ethics and professional responsibility in the workplace.
