The Mining Commission of Tanzania has released updated indicative mineral prices for gold, silver, and copper for May 28, 2026, reflecting current global market trends and providing guidance for traders, miners, and buying centres across the country.
The new prices show continued strong performance of precious metals on the international market, particularly gold, which remains at historically high levels.
According to the Commission, the world market price of gold stands at 4,531.57 US dollars per troy ounce, equivalent to 381,777.51 Tanzanian shillings per gram.
Within the local pricing structure, the mineral market price has been set at 343,599.76 shillings per gram, while buying centres will purchase gold at 335,964.21 shillings per gram.
Silver prices have also maintained steady strength. The world market price is reported at 74.35 US dollars per troy ounce, translating to 6,263.87 shillings per gram.
The mineral market price has been set at 5,637.48 shillings per gram, while buying centres will buy at 5,512.20 shillings per gram.
For copper, the Commission reports a world market price of 6.29 US dollars per pound, equivalent to 36.34 shillings per gram.
The mineral market price is set at 32.70 shillings per gram, while buying centres will purchase copper at 31.98 shillings per gram.
The figures highlight the continued link between global commodity movements and Tanzania’s domestic mineral pricing framework, which is designed to ensure transparency and fair valuation for miners and traders.
Gold remains the most valuable mineral among those listed, with a significant price gap compared to silver and copper, reflecting its continued role as a key driver in both international and local mineral markets.
The Mining Commission regularly issues indicative prices to guide the sector and ensure that transactions at buying centres reflect prevailing global market conditions, while also supporting orderly mineral trade within the country.
