Mbeya DC hails President Samia for creating 259 new jobs to boost service delivery

The Executive Director of Mbeya District Council, Bi. Erica Yegella, has expressed appreciation to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, for facilitating the allocation of 259 new government jobs to the council between January and May 2026, a move aimed at strengthening public service delivery at the local level.

Yegella said the employment boost, coordinated through the President’s Office – Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, has come at a crucial time when many public facilities in the district required additional staff to improve efficiency and expand access to essential services.

She explained that in January 2026 alone, the council received 111 new employees deployed across key sectors including education, health, construction, community development, administration, and communication.

The recruitment, she said, has helped reduce pressure in schools, health facilities, and administrative offices.

In April 2026, the council was further allocated 118 workers in strategic areas such as education, health services, infrastructure development, and accounting.

These professionals, according to the council, are already contributing to improved coordination and better delivery of services to citizens.

In May 2026, an additional 30 health workers were deployed specifically to strengthen healthcare services in dispensaries and health centres across Mbeya District.

The move is expected to improve patient care, reduce workload among existing staff, and enhance the availability of essential health services at the grassroots level.

Yegella said the recruitment drive reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening local government authorities and ensuring that citizens receive timely and quality services.

She noted that the additional workforce has already started making a visible impact, particularly in understaffed facilities where service delivery had been a challenge.

“In just five months, the government has enabled Mbeya District Council to receive more than 250 new employees. This is a major boost to service delivery and a strong investment in improving the welfare of citizens,” she said.

The council leadership reaffirmed its commitment to effectively utilizing the new workforce to improve efficiency, accelerate development projects, and ensure that public services reach citizens in a timely and professional manner across all wards of Mbeya District.
