The Ministry of Minerals and CRDB Bank Foundation have agreed to explore a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Tanzania’s mining value chain and expanding opportunities for small-scale miners through improved access to finance, skills development, and modern mining practices.

The discussions were held on May 14, 2026, at the Ministry of Minerals headquarters in Mtumba, Dodoma, bringing together technical experts from both sides to identify practical areas of collaboration that can enhance growth and inclusivity in the mining sector.

The Ministry’s delegation was led by Assistant Commissioner for Mining in charge of Small-Scale Mining, Eng. Moses Kongola, while the CRDB Bank Foundation team was led by Grants Manager Baraka Kiyalo.

During the talks, both sides examined ways to improve access to capital for small-scale miners through government initiatives such as the Mining for a Brighter Tomorrow (MBT) programme, in collaboration with the Imbeju Programme implemented by CRDB Bank Foundation, which focuses on financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, and capacity building for small business growth.

They also discussed the need to promote the use of improved and efficient small-scale mining technologies to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental sustainability in mining operations across the country.

Special emphasis was placed on ensuring that youth, women, and people with special needs are actively included in mining opportunities so that they can benefit from the country’s mineral wealth.

Officials noted that the proposed collaboration reflects a shared commitment between the government and the private sector to ensure that the mining sector contributes more effectively to inclusive economic growth, job creation, and improved livelihoods for citizens.
