The Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande, on behalf of the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ashatu Kijaji, on May 14, 2026 presented before the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania the budget estimates for revenue and expenditure for the Ministry for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The tabling of the estimates marks a key milestone in the national budget process, setting the stage for the full ministerial budget speech expected to be delivered on May 15, 2026.
In the upcoming address, Minister Kijaji is expected to outline the ministry’s performance during the 2025/2026 financial year, as well as its strategic priorities, revenue targets, and planned expenditures for 2026/2027.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism remains one of the most important sectors in Tanzania’s economy, contributing significantly to national revenue through tourism, forestry, and beekeeping activities.
The sector also plays a vital role in job creation, particularly for young people, while supporting livelihoods in both rural and urban communities.
Tourism continues to be among the country’s leading sources of foreign exchange earnings, with ongoing government efforts focused on strengthening wildlife conservation, improving tourism infrastructure, and promoting Tanzania as a competitive destination in both international and domestic markets.
Overall, the sector contributes more than 21 percent to the national economy, underscoring its importance as a key driver of economic growth, investment, and sustainable development in Tanzania.
