Geita Gold Mining Limited has completed its 2025/2026 Graduate Trainee and Critical Skills Programme, reinforcing its commitment to developing Tanzanian professionals and strengthening local expertise in the mining sector.

The programme, which ended on May 14, 2026, provided one year of intensive practical training to 35 Tanzanian graduates placed in different technical and administrative departments at the company’s mining operations in Geita.

Launched in June 2025, the initiative covered several disciplines including geology, electrical engineering, mine planning, metallurgy, survey, process plant instrumentation, records management, public relations and communications.

The trainees were exposed to real working environments within one of Tanzania’s leading gold mining companies.

The programme is part of GGML’s broader strategy to support the development of Tanzanian human capital while contributing to national efforts aimed at improving youth employment and building a competitive workforce.

GGML said its skills development initiatives also support Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050, which focuses on creating a highly skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable economic growth and industrial transformation.

One of the trainees, Albina Massawe, who worked under the company’s Public Relations and Communications department, described the programme as a valuable learning experience that provided practical exposure beyond classroom education.

She said the training gave participants an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while building technical and professional skills necessary for their future careers.

The latest group joined a workforce where 98 percent of employees are Tanzanian nationals, while 77 percent of executive management positions are held by Tanzanians, according to the company.

Speaking on the significance of the programme, Douglas Jailes, Acting Director for Human Resources at GGML, said investing in professional development remains central to the company’s operations and long-term vision.

He said the programme equips graduates with practical knowledge and technical expertise that can help strengthen Tanzania’s mining sector and support the growth of local leadership within the industry.

GGML has also announced that applications for the 2026/2027 Graduate and Critical Skills Programme will open later this year, encouraging ambitious Tanzanian graduates to follow the company’s official communication channels for updates and application details.
