Dar es Salaam. Preparations for the official launch of Kili Challenge 2026 are in the final stages ahead of a major warm-up walk scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam on May 30, 2026.

The initiative, spearheaded by Geita Gold Mine in collaboration with public and private sector partners, seeks to strengthen Tanzania’s fight against HIV/AIDS through awareness creation, behaviour change campaigns and community participation.

Dubbed the Kili Challenge Warm-Up Walk 2026, the campaign is expected to bring together hundreds of participants from different sectors of society in a symbolic march aimed at promoting national solidarity in the fight against new HIV infections, HIV-related deaths and stigma.

Organisers say the campaign goes beyond a physical walk, describing it as a nationwide social movement designed to encourage collective responsibility and inclusive action in addressing public health challenges.

Guided by the message, “We walk with purpose and we do not walk alone,” the initiative seeks to inspire Tanzanians to unite in promoting awareness, compassion and support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

“Every step taken during the walk represents a commitment towards building a healthier and more inclusive society,” organisers said ahead of the event.

The campaign has attracted support from key institutions, including the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt), with senior executives from leading companies expected to participate.

Their involvement reflects the increasing role of the private sector in supporting national health priorities and advancing corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Public health institutions, including Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS), are also partnering with organisers to strengthen awareness campaigns, expand public education efforts and tackle stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The initiative has continued to gain momentum, drawing support from a broad range of stakeholders and influential figures committed to promoting public health and social inclusion.

According to organisers, the long-term vision of Kili Challenge 2026 is to contribute towards a Tanzania free from new HIV infections, HIV-related deaths and discrimination linked to HIV/AIDS.

Members of the public have been encouraged to register for the walk, contribute donations through the Kili Trust and participate in awareness activities planned before and after the event.

Through its broad-based approach, Kili Challenge 2026 is positioning itself as an important national platform for advocacy, unity and transformative action in Tanzania’s ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS.
