Azam FC secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Pamba Jiji in an NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League encounter played on May 14, 2026, at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam, maintaining their strong push in the top end of the table.

The match started at a cautious pace, with both sides prioritising defensive organisation over attacking risk. Azam FC controlled possession in spells, while Pamba Jiji remained compact and disciplined, cutting off passing lanes and limiting space in dangerous areas.

The first half produced few clear scoring opportunities, as both teams cancelled each other out, heading into the break level at 0-0.

After the restart, the intensity gradually increased as both teams sought to break the deadlock. Azam FC pushed higher up the pitch, showing more urgency in attack, while Pamba Jiji responded with quick transitions whenever they regained possession.

Despite the improved tempo, finishing in the final third remained a challenge, with both defences holding firm under pressure.

As the match appeared destined for a draw, Azam FC found the breakthrough in the 90th minute through Feisal Salum, who delivered a decisive moment to reward the hosts’ late pressure.

The goal lifted the atmosphere at Chamazi, sparking celebrations among supporters who had waited patiently for a breakthrough.

Pamba Jiji, stretched in search of an equaliser, left gaps at the back, and Azam FC capitalised again in stoppage time. In the 90+4 minute, Jéphte Kitambala sealed the result with a composed finish to make it 2-0 and confirm all three points for the home side.

The late goals underlined Azam FC’s patience and ability to punish opponents in crucial moments, turning a tightly contested match into a decisive home victory.

The result keeps Azam FC in third place on the NBC Premier League table with 46 points, behind Simba SC in second place with 51 points, while Yanga SC continue to lead the standings. The title race remains tightly contested as the season moves into its decisive phase.
