A delegation of Members of Parliament from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has toured Eye of Africa Limited in Tanzania, expressing admiration for the country’s growing capacity in mineral value addition and mining sector management.
The visit formed part of a learning and experience-sharing mission aimed at strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and the DRC in mining and investment development.
During the tour, the lawmakers were introduced to the company’s gold refining operations, where they witnessed modern processing methods, quality control systems and efforts being made to increase the value of mineral resources before export.
The delegation was also briefed on the wider role of the private sector in supporting economic growth through mineral processing, attracting investment and expanding international trade opportunities.
The MPs praised Tanzania’s progress in promoting local beneficiation in the mining industry, noting that the country’s approach could provide valuable lessons for other African nations seeking to maximise returns from their natural resources.
Officials from the company explained how investment in mineral refining has contributed to job creation, technology transfer and increased government revenue, while also improving Tanzania’s position in the regional mining value chain.
The visit underscored growing regional interest in Tanzania’s mining reforms and value-addition strategy, which continue to attract attention from neighbouring countries.
The tour is expected to further strengthen economic cooperation and knowledge exchange between Tanzania and the DRC, particularly in mineral processing, investment promotion and sustainable management of natural resources.
