Dar RC Chalamila urges investors to use registered security firms after killing of chinese investor

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has called upon both local and foreign investors to ensure they hire security guards from officially registered security companies with known physical offices and recognized operational records.

Chalamila said the move would help create a more secure and accountable investment environment while also enabling authorities to conduct effective investigations whenever security-related incidents or misunderstandings arise.

The Regional Commissioner made the remarks following the recent killing of a Chinese investor who was allegedly murdered by security guards employed at a company he was leading. According to preliminary reports, the guards reportedly fled the scene after the incident, prompting concern from authorities and the wider public.

Condemning the killing, Chalamila described the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable, emphasizing that security agencies are continuing with investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

He stressed that the use of registered security firms is important because it allows law enforcement authorities to easily trace guards and company operators in the event of criminal activity or security breaches.

“In situations where investors use unregistered or informal security arrangements, it becomes difficult for authorities to quickly identify and track individuals involved whenever incidents occur,” Chalamila explained.

The Regional Commissioner further reassured foreign investors that Tanzania remains peaceful and committed to protecting investments and investors regardless of nationality.

He welcomed more international investors to Tanzania, urging them not to develop fears over security following the incident.

Chalamila noted that the government continues to strengthen security systems and improve the investment climate in order to ensure investors can operate safely and confidently within the country.

The incident has since sparked wider discussions regarding private security standards, accountability, and the importance of proper regulation within Tanzania’s growing investment sector.
