The Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation Limited (TTCL) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding high-speed fiber internet across the country, as part of efforts to accelerate digital inclusion and boost economic growth.
Speaking during the launch of the Kijitonyama FTTx Experience Centre in Kijitonyama, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation Limited, Davidi Nchimbi, said the initiative is designed to bring modern communication technology closer to citizens and demonstrate its practical benefits in everyday life.
He said the centre will serve as a hands-on learning platform where the public can experience how fiber-based internet services can improve access to education, enhance business operations, and strengthen financial services in an increasingly digital economy.
Nchimbi said TTCL is currently implementing a 10-year strategic business plan that began in the 2025/26 financial year, aimed at improving efficiency, driving innovation, and increasing revenue performance.
He noted that the company recorded a profit of Sh22.9 billion before tax in the 2024/25 financial year, describing it as a clear sign of improved operational performance and growing customer confidence.
He also expressed appreciation to development partners, including Huawei and Hisense, for their continued support in advancing digital infrastructure and supporting TTCL’s modernization agenda.
TTCL Managing Director Moremi Marwa said the new facility is part of the corporation’s wider strategy to improve customer experience and expand access to reliable high-speed internet across Tanzania.
He said the FTTx Experience Centre will allow visitors to explore real-life applications of fiber technology in homes, workplaces, and commercial settings.
Marwa added that the centre will also showcase converged services that combine internet, voice, and data packages into a single platform, making it easier and more convenient for customers to access communication services.
He further said TTCL is continuing to roll out its “Fiber to Your Doorstep” initiative in different regions, with the goal of reaching more households and businesses while ensuring stable and affordable connectivity.
The launch of the Kijitonyama FTTx Experience Centre is seen as a major step in TTCL’s transformation journey, positioning the state-owned telecom operator at the centre of Tanzania’s push towards a fully digital economy.
