Simba SC have turned their attention to their next Tanzania Mainland Premier League assignment against Namungo FC following an impressive 3-0 victory over Fountain Gate at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
The win handed Simba three valuable points and reinforced their strong form as they continue their pursuit of the league.
The team delivered a disciplined performance, dominating possession and maintaining sustained pressure that eventually translated into a comfortable and deserved victory.
Speaking after the match, Simba head coach Steve Barker said the focus has already shifted to the next challenge, stressing that the upcoming fixture against Namungo, scheduled for April 19 at Majaliwa Stadium in Lindi Region, will require full concentration and preparation.
Barker noted that every match remains important in the club’s campaign and emphasized the need for consistency as they aim to collect maximum points throughout the season.
“After finishing with Fountain Gate, we now turn to Namungo on Sunday. We will also travel to Zanzibar for the Union celebrations before shifting our focus to the derby against Yanga on May 3,” said Barker.
He added that the technical bench will use the available days to correct mistakes observed in the previous match while ensuring players remain physically and mentally ready for a demanding fixture schedule.
Simba’s victory over Fountain Gate was built on solid organisation, sharp attacking play and effective game management. The team capitalized on key chances while maintaining defensive discipline to secure a clean sheet.
Fountain Gate head coach Fred Minziro acknowledged that his side made costly errors that were punished by a more clinical opponent.
He said those mistakes significantly influenced the outcome of the match, although he praised his players for their fighting spirit.
“We came from a match in Dar es Salaam and had limited time to prepare, but the players showed commitment despite the 3-0 defeat,” said Minziro.
He added that the team will return to training to address their weaknesses and prepare for upcoming league fixtures with improved focus and organization.
With the victory, Simba maintain strong momentum as they balance league commitments with national events and upcoming high-profile fixtures.
Attention now shifts to their away trip to Lindi, where they will face a determined Namungo side eager to defend home advantage.
