Peace remains vital for development

Peace has been highlighted as a fundamental pillar for national development and the protection of individual freedoms, with citizens warning that without stability, efforts to build the economy and strengthen social cohesion are unlikely to succeed.

Residents of Ilala Municipality in Dar es Salaam say a peaceful environment creates the necessary conditions for people to engage in economic and social activities without fear, disruption, or uncertainty.

In contrast, instability breeds conflict and anxiety, limiting productivity and weakening the foundation for sustainable development.

Speaking on April 14, 2026, Mr. Ibrahim Mabula said peace enables citizens to fully exercise their constitutional rights, including freedom of expression and participation in nation-building.

He stressed that peace also serves as a unifying force that strengthens national cohesion, a critical element in achieving shared development goals.

He noted that cooperation within communities depends heavily on a stable and secure environment, adding that even small-scale daily economic activities would be severely affected if peace is compromised.

“Peace is cooperation. Without peace, nothing can move forward. Even the small daily efforts that help people earn a living would collapse if peace disappears,” he said.

Mr. Mabula also commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for safeguarding the country’s peace and stability, expressing confidence in her continued leadership in preserving the nation’s core values for long-term prosperity.

In a related view, another resident, Mr. Said Makele, called on Tanzanians to reflect on the events of October 29, 2025, noting that in some areas, fear and uncertainty disrupted normal life and limited people’s ability to work and move freely.

He urged citizens to take an active role in promoting peace and educating others on its importance, stressing that maintaining harmony is a collective responsibility essential for safeguarding national stability and advancing development.
