Korosho Queens volleyball team, fresh from winning the Union Cup title, is set to hold a special trophy handover ceremony in June this year in Mtwara Region.

The event will bring together stakeholders, partners, and the team’s main sponsor to celebrate the historic achievement and officially present the trophy to supporters of the club.

The planned ceremony is expected to highlight the team’s success in the competition while also strengthening relationships between the club, its sponsors, and the wider volleyball community in the southern zone.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Korosho Queens Manager Hussein Kibombwe said the event will serve as both a celebration and a platform to recognize all those who contributed to the team’s success.

He explained that the ceremony is meant to appreciate stakeholders who have supported the team financially, technically, and morally throughout their journey to winning the Union Cup.

“This is an important moment for us as a team. We want to share this victory with everyone who has been part of our journey. It is not only about winning the trophy, but also about building stronger unity and preparing for the next challenges,” said Kibombwe.

He added that immediately after the ceremony, the team will enter residential training camp to prepare for upcoming competitions, including the National Volleyball League season.

The camp will focus on improving physical fitness, tactical awareness, and team coordination as the club aims to maintain its winning momentum.

Kibombwe further noted that Korosho Queens are also preparing for participation in national school sports competitions, including UMITASHUMTA and UMISSETA, where some of the team’s young players are expected to feature. He said this forms part of the club’s long-term strategy to nurture and develop young talent for future success.

“Some of our players are currently preparing for UMITASHUMTA and UMISSETA competitions. We see this as an important pathway for talent development and future strengthening of the team,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for the Union Cup victory, saying it reflects the hard work, discipline, and commitment of both players and technical staff.

According to him, the achievement marks the beginning of a stronger competitive journey for the club.

Kibombwe emphasized that Korosho Queens are now focused on building an even stronger squad capable of competing at higher levels, including the national stage, with the aim of securing more titles in the future.

He also sent a message of encouragement to other volleyball clubs across the country, urging them to intensify their preparations as Korosho Queens are determined to return to the National Volleyball League with greater strength and ambition.

The upcoming ceremony in Mtwara is expected to attract sports leaders, sponsors, local government officials, and volleyball fans, marking not only a celebration of success but also a renewed commitment to the growth of women’s volleyball in Tanzania.
