Energy Week 2026 opens in Dodoma bringing services closer

By The Respondents Reporter

The 2026 Energy Week has officially opened in Dodoma, with the government using the platform to bring energy services, information, and opportunities directly to citizens and Members of Parliament.

Organized by the Ministry of Energy, the exhibition is taking place at the Parliament grounds, where wananchi are receiving both practical and theoretical education on how the energy sector works and how they can benefit from it.

The initiative reflects a growing commitment to ensure that citizens are not only informed but also actively involved in the country’s energy transformation.

A key focus of the exhibition is to showcase investment opportunities available in the energy sector, opening doors for local entrepreneurs and stakeholders to participate in the industry.

Citizens are also being educated on the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for vehicles, a move aimed at reducing fuel costs and promoting cleaner energy alternatives.

In addition, the event provides a rare opportunity for wananchi to experience clean cooking energy solutions firsthand.

Through live demonstrations, participants are learning how modern energy technologies can improve daily life while protecting the environment and reducing health risks associated with traditional fuels.

The exhibition is also being used as a platform to update the public on the progress of major energy projects across the country.

Citizens and lawmakers are receiving clear explanations on what has been achieved so far, ongoing challenges, and the next steps in expanding access to reliable energy services.

Importantly, the event creates space for direct interaction between service providers and the public. Citizens are able to ask questions, raise concerns, and provide feedback on the services they receive, helping institutions improve performance and accountability.

Key institutions participating in the exhibition include Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited, Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority, Rural Energy Agency, Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority, and Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency.

Through Energy Week 2026, the government is strengthening its engagement with citizens, ensuring that no one is left behind as Tanzania moves towards a more sustainable, accessible, and inclusive energy future.
