The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Natu El-Maamry Mwamba, has taken part in a high-level women leaders’ breakfast meeting held at the headquarters of the World Bank in Washington D.C., United States, bringing together influential women leaders from across the world.

The meeting was organized by the World Bank through its Managing Directors, Ms. Anna Bjerde and Ms. Anshula Kant, and was held on the sidelines of the ongoing World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings taking place in Washington D.C.

The annual gathering has grown into a key global platform that brings together senior women leaders from governments, international organizations, and the private sector to exchange views on inclusive development, leadership, and economic transformation.

This year’s event attracted high-profile participants, including the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Ms. Yuliia Svyrydenko, among other global leaders.

Discussions focused on the need to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and expand opportunities for women to take up leadership roles in decision-making spaces at both national and global levels.

The leaders underscored that inclusive participation remains essential for achieving sustainable development and shared prosperity across the world.

The meeting also highlighted the growing challenge and opportunity presented by a rapidly expanding global workforce, with more than 1.2 billion young people expected to enter the labour market within the next 10 to 15 years.

Participants emphasized the importance of investing in education, skills development, and equal access to economic opportunities, particularly for women and youth.

Dr. Mwamba’s participation reflects Tanzania’s continued engagement in global economic and development dialogues, as well as its commitment to advancing gender equality, inclusive growth, and stronger representation of women in leadership at all levels.
