Bishop Shoo welcomes inquiry report, calls for national healing and peace

The Head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (KKKT) Northern Diocese, Bishop Dr. Fredrick Shoo, has welcomed the report of the Commission of Inquiry, describing it as a vital milestone in healing national wounds and reinforcing Tanzania’s reputation for peace and stability.

Speaking on the development, Bishop Shoo said he received the report with a deep sense of satisfaction, noting that it has helped address the scars left by the events of October 29, 2015. 

He said the commission’s decision to present the truth openly, alongside practical recommendations, marks a significant step toward reconciliation and national unity.

He stressed that the report provides a timely opportunity for the country to reflect, learn, and move forward. 

He called on the government to take decisive steps in implementing the recommendations, emphasizing that such action would not only resolve lingering grievances but also strengthen public trust in state institutions.

According to Bishop Shoo, truth and transparency are essential in restoring confidence among citizens and ensuring lasting harmony. 

He noted that the commission’s findings underline the importance of accountability, dialogue, and inclusive governance in safeguarding the nation against future conflicts.

He expressed optimism that with proper implementation of the report’s recommendations, Tanzania will continue to stand out as a beacon of peace in the region, maintaining its identity as a united and stable society.
