Tanzania has renewed its push to attract foreign capital into its industrial sector following a high-level visit by Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Ryzhenkov, to the Benjamin Mkapa Special Economic Zone.

The visit, held on April 29, 2026, forms part of broader efforts by both countries to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, with a focus on industrialisation, trade expansion and technology transfer.

During the tour of the facility managed by the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority, Tanzanian officials used the platform to invite Belarusian investors to explore opportunities in manufacturing and value addition industries areas considered central to job creation and economic transformation.

Positioned as one of the country’s flagship investment hubs, the Benjamin Mkapa Special Economic Zone offers strategic advantages including tax incentives, ready infrastructure and streamlined regulatory procedures aimed at reducing the cost of doing business.

Tanzania has in recent years intensified efforts to open up its economy by actively promoting investment opportunities across key sectors, particularly industry, as it seeks to accelerate growth and build a more resilient economy.

Speaking during the visit, TISEZA Director General Gilead Teri said the authority has undertaken reforms to improve the investment climate, including simplifying administrative processes and strengthening investor support services.

He noted that Tanzania is positioning itself as a competitive destination for global investors by ensuring predictability, efficiency and access to regional markets through its strategic location.

The engagement is expected to pave the way for increased Belarusian participation in Tanzania’s industrial sector, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a regional manufacturing hub while deepening economic diplomacy ties with Eastern Europe.
