Young Africans Sports Club secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Tanzania Prisons in a closely contested match of the NBC Premier League played on March 12 at Jamhuri Stadium.
The encounter began with both teams showing determination as they searched for an early advantage. Yanga attempted to control possession and push forward, while Tanzania Prisons remained organized at the back and looked for opportunities on the counterattack.
Despite several attacking moves from both sides, the first half ended without a goal as each team’s defense held firm. The two sides went into the break locked at 0–0 after a competitive opening 45 minutes.
The intensity continued in the second half, with both teams increasing the tempo and creating chances. However, neither side managed to break the deadlock for much of the match as defenders and goalkeepers from both teams stood strong.
The decisive moment arrived in the 79th minute when Yanga striker Laurindo Aurélio found the back of the net following a swift attacking move that caught the Tanzania Prisons defense off guard, giving his side a crucial lead.
Tanzania Prisons attempted to respond in the closing minutes, pressing forward in search of an equalizer, but Yanga’s defense remained solid to protect the slim advantage.
When the referee blew the final whistle after 90 minutes, Yanga emerged with a narrow 1–0 win, securing three important points in the league standings as they continue their campaign in the NBC Premier League.
