Young Africans SC (Yanga) secured a commanding 7-1 victory over Polisi Tanzania, booking their place in the Round of 16 of the CRDB Bank Cup in a spectacular display at the KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Yanga made a statement from the very first minute, as Mudathir Yahya scored to give his side an early lead.
The momentum continued with Depu producing a brilliant hat-trick in the 22nd, 34th, and 59th minutes, putting Polisi Tanzania under relentless pressure.
In the 38th minute, Yanga extended their lead to 4-0 courtesy of an own goal by Joseph Majagi, leaving the defending side with a mountain to climb at halftime.
The second half saw Yanga maintain their attacking rhythm. Buba Jameh added a sixth goal in the 76th minute, before Polisi Tanzania pulled one back through Frank Asinki in the 81st minute.
However, Abdulnasir quickly restored Yanga’s dominance with the seventh goal in the 84th minute, sealing an emphatic victory and a ticket to the next stage.
In other Round of 32 matches, Pamba Jiji edged Transit Camp 2-1 at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, while Coastal Union advanced with a 4-1 win over Stand United.
Mbuni eliminated Mtibwa Sugar with a narrow 1-0 victory at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, and Tanzania Prisons bowed out after a 1-0 defeat to TMA.
