Tanzania has made history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B, which concluded today, March 30, 2026, in Ghana. This landmark achievement secures Tanzania’s place in the next stage of the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.

The week-long tournament, held from March 22, brought together six nations: Tanzania, Malawi, Saint Helena, Eswatini, Seychelles, and host nation Ghana.

Tanzania dominated the competition, winning all their matches in the preliminary rounds, which ensured their smooth progression to the next stage of the regional qualifiers.

Tanzania’s success was powered by standout performances from key players. Ajith Augustin was named Best Batsman, Laksh Bakrania took home Best Bowler honors, while Ivan Selemani was recognized as Player of the Series for his exceptional all-round contributions.

The victory reflects the rapid growth of cricket in Tanzania and underscores the emergence of talented players ready to shine on the international stage.

Commenting on the historic win, Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Chief Executive Officer Hamis highlighted the role of long-term planning and consistent performance evaluation.

“Our success is the result of thorough preparation and regular post-tournament assessments to address gaps. We also conduct ongoing studies to ensure our team remains competitive at the international level,” he said.

With this landmark achievement, Tanzania now turns its focus to the next stage of regional competition, aiming to continue its strong performance and pursue the dream of representing the country at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
