The Government of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Health and the Department of Emergency and Disaster Management, in partnership with the Global Health Security (GHS) project implemented by PATH and CIHEB Tanzania, has intensified training for Rapid Response Teams (RRT) in Tanga Region.
The initiative is designed to strengthen frontline preparedness and ensure swift, effective action in the event of disease outbreaks.
The training program combines theory and practical exercises, equipping health workers with essential skills to manage public health emergencies.
Participants learn to conduct rapid risk assessments, implement infection prevention measures, and respond efficiently to outbreaks.
Practical drills include proper handwashing, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and handling emergency situations safely and effectively.
Sessions are led by expert trainers from the Ministry of Health, the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), and partners from PATH and CIHEB.
The program adheres strictly to national and international guidelines on health emergency preparedness, ensuring communities remain protected against potential public health threats.
By investing in the skills of Rapid Response Teams, Tanzania reinforces its commitment to safeguarding citizens and building a resilient health system capable of responding to emerging disease outbreaks promptly.
