The Tanzania Association of Football for People with Disabilities (TAFF) has stepped up efforts to promote the establishment of football teams across the country, aiming to broaden participation and enhance competitiveness in the sport.

Shaban Msangi, TAFF’s Technical Director, made the announcement during his recent visit to Tabora, where he toured the Unyanyembe Club to educate players and officials on the rules and best practices of football for people with disabilities.

“Our goal is to ensure more teams participate in the Premier League next season, which will help elevate the level of the game nationwide,” said Msangi.

“These efforts are part of a wider strategy to reach all regions and encourage the formation of teams, so this sport can truly be played across Tanzania.”he added

Maulid Mwikalo, Chairman of the Football Association for People with Disabilities in Tabora, said preparations for the upcoming Premier League, scheduled for July in Dar es Salaam, are already underway.

“We want to create opportunities for players to compete, improve their economic prospects, and even find employment through football,” Mwikalo said, calling on local stakeholders and the public to support the initiative with both resources and active participation.

Hamad Simba, coach of the Unyanyembe team, encouraged talented individuals to join, noting that the team is still welcoming new players as they prepare for the league.

“Despite challenges such as a shortage of sports equipment, we are determined to build a strong and competitive team,” Simba said.

“We appeal to stakeholders and well-wishers to support us in developing this sport further.”

Through these initiatives, TAFF aims not only to grow football for people with disabilities but also to empower players socially and economically, opening new pathways for inclusion and national recognition.
