Tanzania today hosted the Tanzania–Japan Business Roundtable, bringing together key players from government, private sector, and development agencies to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties between Tanzania and Japan.
The event was officially opened by Gilead Teri, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), and Higeki Komatsubara, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
They jointly launched a guidebook titled “Investing in Tanzania as a Bridge to the AfCFTA, SADC and EAC”.
The publication highlights Tanzania’s potential as a gateway to regional and international markets, connecting investors to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the East African Community (EAC).
During the forum, participants engaged in detailed discussions on Tanzania’s business environment. Representatives from TANTRADE, TANESCO, TRA, PPPC, and small and medium enterprises shared insights on business regulations, import-export procedures, and key guidelines for investors.
High-potential sectors identified during the roundtable included manufacturing, renewable energy, finance and trade, transport and logistics, tourism, and information and communication technology (ICT).
Stakeholders from these sectors discussed practical strategies for accessing opportunities and expanding their businesses in Tanzania.
The event also served as a platform for knowledge exchange, allowing investors to learn from experiences of both local and international stakeholders.
The discussions emphasized Tanzania’s efforts to create a business-friendly environment, attract foreign investment, and promote sustainable partnerships that drive economic growth.
The Tanzania–Japan Business Roundtable comes at a time when the country is positioning itself as a hub for regional trade.
With supportive policies and strategic geographic location, Tanzania aims to leverage its role as a bridge to regional and global markets, offering investors both stability and growth potential.
