The Federation of Sports for Public Corporations, Institutions, and Private Companies in Tanzania (SHIMMUTA) has officially handed over its “Sports for the Well-Being of Workers” policy to the National Sports Council (NSC).

The initiative aims to strengthen sports activities among SHIMMUTA members nationwide.

SHIMMUTA Chairperson Roselyne Massam said the policy will enhance collaboration with NSC to promote and coordinate sports in workplaces, fostering a healthier and more productive workforce.

“The policy is designed to improve employee well-being through sports, encourage teamwork, increase productivity, and create opportunities for employment and overall development across the country,” Massam said during the handover ceremony.

BMT Executive Secretary Neema Msitha commended SHIMMUTA for the initiative, describing it as a significant step in advancing sports development in Tanzania.

Msitha emphasized that NSC, established under the National Sports Council Act No. 12 of 1967, Chapter 49, is responsible for regulating and overseeing the country’s sports sector.

She added that all sports activities must follow the council’s guidelines, regulations, and national laws.
