The Vice President, Emmanuel Nchimbi, has urged religious leaders and citizens to use the ongoing periods of Ramadan and Lent to pray for the country, its leaders and political parties in order to strengthen national unity and harmony.

Dr Nchimbi made the call in Dodoma after attending an Iftar he hosted for residents of the region, bringing together government leaders, religious institutions and members of the public.

Dr Nchimbi noted that strengthening the spirit of unity among citizens is essential for maintaining peace and cooperation in the country under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He also said that during the holy seasons, Tanzanians can renew their commitment to building a united nation by pledging to promote peace, cooperation and mutual respect among citizens.

The Iftar event brought together various leaders including the Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office responsible for Union and Environment, Hamad Masauni, the Secretary General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Asha-Rose Migiro, and the Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde.

Also in attendance were members of the Reconciliation Committee, religious leaders, Members of Parliament from Dodoma Region, district commissioners and residents.
