The government has proposed to collect and spend TZS 62.334 trillion in the 2026/27 financial year, reflecting a 10.3 percent increase compared to the 2025/26 national budget.

Presenting the proposed Budget Framework and Expenditure Ceiling to the Committee of the Whole House at the Pius Msekwa Hall, Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar said the funds will be used to finance recurrent expenditure, development projects and servicing of the national debt.

The proposed budget signals the government’s plan to expand spending to support economic growth, strengthen public service delivery and accelerate implementation of development projects across key sectors.

Mr Omar said the increase reflects the government’s efforts to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation while ensuring adequate funding for priority development programmes.

The presentation was made before Members of Parliament during a session chaired by Prime Minister Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba.

The session was also attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mussa Azan Zungu, alongside senior government leaders and lawmakers.

The presentation of the budget framework and spending ceilings forms part of the parliamentary process leading to the tabling of the full national budget, allowing legislators to review the government’s fiscal direction and spending priorities ahead of the official budget speech.
