The Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA) kicked off in spectacular fashion on February 28, 2026, at the KIUT grounds, with high-stakes matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

In the men’s competition, KIUT suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to High Voltage, while TPDC also fell 3-0 in their opening match.

On the women’s side, KIUT made a strong statement, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Jeshi Stars.

Speaking after the games, Clement Athanas, Secretary-General of DAREVA, said the league has become highly competitive, with teams making major international signings.

“This season promises to be our best yet. Teams have recruited players from five different countries,” he said.

Athanas also called on sponsors to support the league and urged fans to attend matches in large numbers. “We need partners to help us run the league professionally, and we encourage fans to fill the stands to support their teams,” he added.

Meanwhile, DAREVA League Board Chairman Peter Kahwaa announced the prizes for this season. Champions of Series A, both men and women, will receive one million Tanzanian shillings, medals, and trophies, while Series B winners will take home 500,000 shillings each.

Kahwaa emphasized that fans should expect a highly competitive season and encouraged them to witness the rising talents ready to shine on the court.
