Kibaha. The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR), in collaboration with the Institute of Directors in Tanzania (IoDT), has conducted a specialized leadership and management training programme for Directors and Assistant Directors of the Office.
A-five-day training aimed at strengthening managerial capacity in overseeing public resources with professionalism, accountability, and in the broader national interest.
The training was held from February 2 to 6, 2026 at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha under the theme “Accountable Leadership and Management in the National Interest.”
Through the five-day programme, participants had the opportunity to learn and deliberate on key issues in strategic leadership, good governance, patriotism, ethics in public leadership, and institutional protection against operational, ethical, and security risks.
Topics covered included the foundations of good governance, results-oriented and accountable leadership, management of public investments, strategic decision-making in overseeing public institutions and corporations, and leadership grounded in national interest and national security.
Participants also built capacity in leadership protocol and etiquette, emotional intelligence, strategic negotiations, as well as executive-level communication and leadership image within Government.
The training further addressed issues affecting modern leadership, including the use of technology and digital government systems, understanding of e-Board systems, and the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for leaders particularly opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations in strategic decision-making.
In addition, topics on leaders’ health, stress management, and leadership resilience were discussed to ensure sustained effectiveness in the execution of their responsibilities.
In terms of benefits, the training is expected to enhance cohesion and leadership alignment within OTR, improve the quality of management decisions, and strengthen accountability in the oversight of public shares and assets under the Office of the Treasury Registrar.
Through a shared understanding of leadership responsibility and institutional stewardship, Directors and Assistant Directors have been equipped with a strong foundation to manage public institutions and corporations effectively, with discipline, and in line with national development priorities.
