The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) is a key driver in translating the aspirations of the National Development Vision 2050 into tangible outcomes, particularly in the investment sector, the Minister for Industry and Trade, Ms Judith Kapinga, has said.
Speaking at the opening of the Lake Zone Investment Conference in Mwanza City, organised by TISEZA, Ms Kapinga said while the government is responsible for setting ambitious national development goals, TISEZA has been entrusted with the critical task of turning those goals into actionable and sustainable development initiatives.
She said through its mandate to coordinate, promote and facilitate investment, as well as develop special economic zones, TISEZA plays a strategic role in improving the business climate and positioning Tanzania as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors.
“The government’s vision is to see Tanzania ranked among the top three African countries in terms of investment attraction and ease of doing business by 2050,” she said, adding that the realisation of this ambition will depend on effective implementation and strong institutional coordination.
Ms Kapinga stressed that achieving the Vision 2050 targets requires close collaboration between TISEZA, the private sector and government institutions, guided by national development frameworks, including the second phase of the Blueprint for Improving the Business Environment (MKUMBI II).
She also called on TISEZA to deepen its engagement with regional secretariats across the country and strengthen partnerships with the private sector to ensure Tanzanians are fully empowered to participate in investment activities, either through individual ventures or joint partnerships with local and international investors.
According to the minister, inclusive investment is essential for accelerating industrialisation, creating jobs and driving sustainable economic growth, noting that regional investment forums such as the Lake Zone conference provide an important platform for showcasing opportunities and aligning regional priorities with national development objectives.
