The development of Tanzania’s communication sector hinges on accountability, professionalism, and strong leadership, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki (MP), has said.
Speaking at a high-level working session between the Ministry, its Boards, and affiliated institutions on 27 February 2026, Minister Kairuki called on board and management leaders to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in their operations.
She stressed that these values are essential for delivering efficient, high-quality services to citizens.
“Solid foundations for development are built through strong leadership and effective management of public resources,” she said, urging accelerated investment and infrastructure improvements, particularly in underserved areas, to expand service coverage and reduce urban-rural disparities.
Minister Kairuki also highlighted the importance of public education campaigns through media, social networks, and public forums to ensure citizens fully benefit from available services while navigating digital challenges safely.
She underlined the need to strengthen local expertise by investing in training and skills development for staff, keeping pace with technological advancements and ensuring the sustainability of strategic projects.
The Minister emphasized collaboration, innovation, and high accountability among all stakeholders, noting that rigorous implementation of these directives will improve service delivery, boost public trust, and drive growth in the communication sector and the wider economy.
