Tanzanians are being urged to actively participate in protecting and sustaining peace, which is essential for personal growth and the nation’s development.
Citizens, especially young people, are encouraged to invest in skills that enable them to engage in productive economic activities, generate income, and contribute to the prosperity of both themselves and the country.
This call comes at a time when the sixth-phase government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan has launched major initiatives to empower citizens economically, with a focus on youth.
Through significant financial support, access to loans, and the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Youth Development, the government is creating opportunities to equip young Tanzanians with the resources and guidance needed to succeed in business, entrepreneurship, and creative industries.
“Peace is the foundation for progress. Without it, nothing can flourish. When young people lack jobs or skills, it often leads to criminal activity and unrest, which destabilizes our communities,” said Mr. Dickson Mazengo, a resident of Ubungo, Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Mazengo further emphasizes the importance of sharing skills within communities. By empowering others through knowledge, every individual can find meaningful work, strengthen the local economic chain, and foster social stability.
This approach not only secures personal well-being but also contributes to a peaceful society that benefits everyone.
The United Nations describes peace as more than the absence of conflict. It is a social framework built on cooperation, forgiveness, and shared responsibility.
Every citizen can act as a peace ambassador, beginning at home, extending to the community, and reaching the national level.
Peace allows for improved public services, stronger social and economic infrastructure, and a secure environment where all Tanzanians can thrive.
Citizens are therefore encouraged to view economic empowerment not only as personal advancement but also as a vital contribution to building a stable, prosperous, and peaceful Tanzania.
