The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has called on residents of Same District to protect and maintain public infrastructure, emphasizing that these projects are built for the benefit of the local community.

Dr. Nchemba made the remarks while inspecting the ongoing construction of the Same–Ndungu–Mkomazi road, a strategic route stretching 105 kilometers. He visited the 36-kilometer Mkomazi–Ndungu section, currently under construction.

“The Ministry of Works must ensure this key road is completed to the highest standards,” the Prime Minister said, highlighting that the road will boost local economic activities, including agriculture, fishing, and tourism.

Deputy Minister for Works, Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, explained that the road is being built in three sections to make construction more efficient: Gonja–Ndungu (5.2 km), Ndungu–Mkomazi (36 km), and Same–Mroyo (56.8 km).

Eng. Kasekenya also noted that the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is conducting feasibility studies and detailed designs for another important road, Ndungu–Miamba–Mwembe (90 km).

Once completed, this road will improve connectivity between the mountainous areas and the plains, making transport safer and faster for residents.

Eng. Jefferson Nnko, Acting CEO of TANROADS, assured citizens that the agency is committed to completing all projects with the highest quality standards.

Prime Minister Nchemba is currently on the first day of his visit to Kilimanjaro Region, meeting with residents and reviewing development projects to ensure they meet the needs of the community.
