The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has held official talks with the Minister of Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania, Khamis Mussa Omar, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation on financial and economic matters.
The meeting was held on 18 February 2026 at State House Zanzibar. Discussions focused on enhancing coordination between the Government of Zanzibar and the Union Government, particularly in areas of public finance management, economic planning, and national development priorities.
Minister Omar was accompanied by his Deputy Ministers, Laurent Deogratius Luswetula and Mshamu Ali Munde, as well as the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Amina Khamis Shaaban.
The Finance Minister paid a courtesy call to formally introduce himself following his recent appointment to lead the Ministry of Finance by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
President Mwinyi congratulated Minister Omar on his appointment and reaffirmed Zanzibar’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Ministry of Finance in supporting national economic stability and development objectives.
