Heads of Government Information and Communication Units have been urged to proactively communicate achievements recorded under the Generation Equality Programme to the public and the international community, as part of efforts to strengthen public awareness and participation in promoting gender equality.
The call was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr John Jingu, during a capacity-building meeting held in Dodoma on February 5, 2026.
Dr Jingu said the government, through the ministry, has continued to work closely with sector ministries, public institutions, regional administrations and local government authorities to ensure coordinated and effective implementation of the programme nationwide.
He noted that the programme has delivered notable results across the country, adding that information officers have a responsibility to clearly articulate these achievements to help the public understand their impact and relevance.
“There are many significant successes achieved through this programme. You are in a unique position to educate the public, raise awareness and mobilise communities to actively participate in promoting a generation anchored in equality,” said Dr Jingu.
He added that effective communication of the programme’s outcomes would contribute to the implementation of key national frameworks, including the National Vision 2050 and the CCM Election Manifesto for 2025–2030.
Dr Jingu also encouraged participants to engage openly and constructively during the discussions, saying this would help strengthen programme delivery, identify emerging challenges and develop sustainable strategies to advance economic and social equality.
Speaking on behalf of participants, the Head of the Government Information and Communication Unit from the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Ms Rhoida Andusamile, commended the ministry for enhancing their capacity to link institutional project outcomes with the Generation Equality agenda.
She said the participants were committed to continuously sharing positive results through various platforms, including mainstream media, social media and public events.
Tanzania is implementing the economic justice and rights pillar of the Generation Equality commitments made during the Generation Equality Forum held in France from June 30 to July 2, 2021.
The pillar focuses on four priority areas: gender-responsive investment in care services in both public and private sectors; promotion of decent work for women in formal and informal sectors; improved access to and ownership of productive resources by women; and the development of gender-responsive macroeconomic policies, budget reforms and incentives aimed at reducing poverty among women and girls.
