Mbeya District Council Executive Director Ms. Erica E. Yegella has urged development partners to strengthen cooperation with the government in improving education infrastructure, saying joint efforts remain critical to creating a conducive learning environment for students.
Speaking on February 2, 2026, during the handover of 100 desks and 100 bags of cement donated by Panda Hill Tanzania Limited (PHTL), Ms. Yegella said the contribution would help ease the persistent shortage of desks in primary and secondary schools across the district.
She noted that adequate school furniture not only supports effective teaching and learning but also encourages students to attend classes regularly, study in comfort, and maintain discipline.
Ms. Yegella emphasized that such support directly contributes to better learning outcomes and improved school performance.
On behalf of Mbeya District Council, she expressed gratitude to PHTL, represented by Mr. Emmanuel Kisasi, for the timely donation.
She stressed that collaboration between the government and development stakeholders plays a vital role in strengthening the education sector and accelerating local development.
The donated desks will be distributed to five primary schools: Mapambano Primary School will receive 30 desks, while Mapelele, Swaya and Songwe Prisons primary schools will each receive 20 desks.
Mashujaa Primary School will receive 10 desks. The distribution is expected to enhance the schools’ capacity to accommodate students and deliver quality education more efficiently.
For his part, Mr. Kisasi reaffirmed PHTL’s commitment to continue working with the government in supporting education development, saying investment in education is an investment in the nation’s future.
