Traders in Kariakoo are set to adopt the new Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS), with the official launch scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2026.
Speaking during a TRA-led training session on February 6, Mr. Severin Mushi, Chairman of the Kariakoo Traders Association (JWK), said the traders are ready to use the system and work closely with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).
“The training has been very helpful. It has reduced fears and given us a clear understanding of how to operate the system,” Mr. Mushi said.
He stressed that embracing new technology is crucial in today’s business environment to improve efficiency in tax compliance.
He also urged TRA to collaborate with the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) to resolve network challenges in key trading areas, particularly Kariakoo.
Mr. Mushi called on all traders to cooperate with the Government and TRA, emphasizing that the goal is to make tax payment easier, more transparent, and productive.
“We are ready to start using IDRAS from February 9. The main focus is working together with the Government to ensure smooth and efficient tax payments,” he said.
He further recommended a transitional training period of at least three months to allow traders to master the system before full implementation.
