The Government of Tanzania and sports stakeholders have been called upon to strengthen collaboration with JMK Park Youth Development Centre in order to enhance and promote sports development among young people across the country.
The appeal was made by the Centre’s Director, Mark Sequeira, during the celebration of JMK Park’s 10th anniversary, held on February 14, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.
Sequeira emphasized that meaningful progress in youth sports can only be achieved through strong partnerships between the government, private sector, and other stakeholders.
He noted that sports have the potential to open doors to employment opportunities, personal growth, and social development for young people.
“For us to move forward, collective collaboration is essential, particularly in the provision of sports equipment and resources,” he said.
He explained that while JMK Park is well-equipped with qualified professionals and adequate sports infrastructure, including training grounds, additional support is needed to expand youth participation and increase attendance in its programs.
Sequeira also expressed appreciation to stakeholders who have consistently supported the centre’s mission of identifying, nurturing, and developing young talent, while encouraging more partners to come forward and join hands in advancing youth sports.
Representing the Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council of Tanzania, Ingridy Kimario commended JMK Park for its strong leadership and commitment to shaping disciplined and skilled young athletes who continue to serve as valuable national resources.
She stressed that the government alone cannot fully develop the sports sector without the active involvement of stakeholders, highlighting unity and cooperation as key drivers of sustainable sports development in the country.
“I urge all stakeholders to continue working together. If there is any area where collaboration is needed, our doors remain open do not hesitate to engage with us,” she said.
