Stakeholders of the Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball Association (BD) have been called upon to actively participate in the ongoing nomination process for various leadership positions ahead of the Association’s General Election scheduled for February 22, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking on the exercise, the Chairperson of the BD Election Committee, Okare Emesu, said the collection and submission of nomination forms officially began on February 14 and will run until February 17.

Emesu emphasized that the process is open to all eligible members who demonstrate commitment, integrity, and a genuine desire to promote and develop basketball in the Dar es Salaam region.

“We encourage all qualified members to come forward and contest for leadership positions so that we can continue strengthening the growth of basketball in the region. The elected leaders will also represent the region by voting in the General Election of the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), which is scheduled for February 28 this year,” he said.

He further reminded members to ensure their clubs have renewed registration and cleared all required fees with the Baraza la Michezo la Taifa (BMT) prior to election day.

Emesu warned that failure to update membership status or settle the necessary payments could lead to disqualification from participating in the election process.

Meanwhile, Election Committee member Amin outlined the election timetable, noting that objections against candidates will be submitted after the nomination forms are returned.

He explained that February 18 has been set aside for the verification of candidates, the hearing and determination of any objections raised, as well as the verification of eligible voters.

On the same day, candidates cleared by the Election Committee will be officially announced at the Don Bosco Hall in Upanga.

Amin added that approved candidates will be allowed to campaign from February 19 to 21, ahead of the General Election scheduled for February 22.

The BD elections are expected to play a key role in shaping the future leadership of basketball in Dar es Salaam and strengthening the region’s contribution to the national basketball agenda.
