Government to connect Mbeya, Tabora, and Singida with paved road

By The Respondents Reporter

The Government has announced plans to construct a modern paved road linking Ipole to Rungwa, a move set to connect the regions of Mbeya, Tabora, and Singida and boost regional transport.

Deputy Minister of Works, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya, revealed the plans in Parliament in Dodoma today, February 2, 2026, while responding to a question from Sikonge MP Amos William Maganga about the status of the Ipole–Rungwa road project.

Engineer Kasekenya said the road has already been designed, but it has not yet been built to paved standards.

The Government is actively seeking the right funding to ensure the road meets the required quality.

“This is one of the major roads that has been designed but not yet paved. The Government is exploring the appropriate funding sources to construct the road from Ipole to Rungwa, and then onward from Rungwa to Singida,” he explained.

He added that construction has already started on the section from Rungwa to Makongorosi, a development that will enhance connectivity between Tabora, Singida, and Mbeya, facilitating smoother travel and economic growth across the regions.
