The Government has reinforced its commitment to improving service delivery following a working session between the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, and the Management of the Lushoto District Council.
The meeting focused on setting clear strategies to implement directives issued by the Prime Minister, Mwigulu Nchemba, with particular emphasis on addressing public complaints and administrative challenges. The directives were delivered during the Prime Minister’s visit to Lushoto District on February 17, 2026.
Speaking during the meeting held on February 18, 2026, Prof. Shemdoe emphasized the need for public officials to change their operational mindset, abandon routine practices, and ensure timely resolution of issues at all levels.
“The Prime Minister directed us to change the way we work and move away from routine approaches. We must listen, act promptly, and provide solutions within our areas of responsibility,” said Prof. Shemdoe.
He noted that failure to resolve issues at local levels has led many people to seek intervention from national leaders, sometimes after traveling long distances.
He therefore urged the council management to strengthen internal systems and take full responsibility for resolving matters at source.
To enhance efficiency, Prof. Shemdoe directed the District Executive Director to explore the establishment of regular forums or clinics at ward level for receiving and resolving complaints, noting that such an approach would significantly reduce the accumulation of unresolved issues.
“This arrangement will help address many challenges early and improve overall service delivery,” he added.
Prof. Shemdoe also commended the Lushoto District Council Management for its cooperation with the District Executive Director, urging continued teamwork to accelerate development initiatives within the council.
On his part, the District Executive Director, Dr. Ikupa Mwasyoge, thanked the Government for continued investments in education and health infrastructure, which have contributed to improved service provision across the district.
The meeting underscored the Government’s determination to strengthen accountability, responsiveness, and efficiency in public service delivery, in line with directives from top national leadership.
